Owner's Manual

Each piece of PORTOMEA jewelry is made of micro-cut glass beads, is designed using high quality materials, and with the highest level of workmanship. I stand by it. Glass beads will last you many centuries, which is more than enough to make your selected piece an heirloom that can be treasured for a lifetime and beyond.

Due to their tiny size and construction, these glass beads are highly resistant to breakage under normal conditions (for example, dropping on the floor). If unreasonable pressure is applied, however, it will break. By unreasonable, I mean grinding with a stone over the beaded components and other unusual exposure.

Beadwork care is simple. Avoid immersing your PORTOMEA jewelry in water, and remove before bathing or swimming. Avoid strong friction, and remove beaded jewelry before physical activities or sleep. For storage, select dry containers away from light – the box your piece came with can serve well for that purpose. Avoid direct exposure to chemicals. Drops of perfume, hair spay, makeup particles, etc. can alter the color of the beads, and so it is recommended that jewelry is put on after those products are used.

To remove dirt or dust from PORTOMEA beadwork, use a compressed air-can on a low setting. A really soft brush or a soft dry cloth can work as alternatives. Do not use soap and/or water. If accidentally exposed to water (e.g., rain or water fountain), gently pat with a facial tissue to collect excess moisture, and air dry away from direct heat.

Closures Guarantee

Natural wear and tear occurs on the cord closures, similar to the way laces or buttons may wear out on clothing. To ensure your continuous enjoyment of the jewelry, I offer a cord closure guarantee. If your cord ever breaks or wears off, you can send your piece of jewelry to me and I will repair it free of charge. Notify me if you need this service by contacting me via email. In order to benefit from this guarantee, the purchase must be made from this site and have an assigned order number.

Wear & Tear

As you wear your jewelry, it starts to acquire its own personality. Items may begin to show the beautiful work of time and become part of your own personal story in the making. This makes your piece even more special and unique. You may see beautiful patina forming within the bead core, especially those beads made with copper plating. Enjoy this process of growing with your jewelry over time. I embrace these beautiful changes and, besides the above guarantee on cord closures, do not cover other forms of wear and tear (please see the Repairs section below).

Repairs

If your piece was accidentally damaged and needs repair, I am more than happy to help. Contact me via email with a description of the problem and an image, and I would be happy to offer a repair service at a nominal fee that is reasonable and commensurate with the damage of the piece. I am also happy to replace cords on PORTOMEA pieces purchased from shows and boutiques for a small fee. Simply contact me to make arrangements.

Shipping

You will receive an email confirmation once your order has been successfully placed — it will include your order number and shipping method. Because each piece of jewelry is made by hand, orders take up to 3-4 weeks to be shipped and typically take up to 5 days in transit for domestic orders (about two weeks for international). Please make sure your shipping address is correct as I am unable to redirect packages once they are shipped.

I ship to all US delivery addresses with a US zip code. For international orders, please contact me to determine the best shipping method and cost. I ship to many countries successfully. However, some countries pose an exception and, due to local challenges of the postal service in those countries, I cannot guarantee the arrival of your package.

All packages are shipped with a tracking number and a signature confirmation. Yes, that means that someone needs to be present to sign at the time of delivery.

Returns & Exchanges

You can return your item for any reason within 10 days of purchase for a full refund. Please notify me via email if you plan to return your piece, so that I can track the return package. The piece must be returned in its original condition, in full packaging and include the original certificate.

Although returns and exchanges are not available on custom pieces, I will work with you to adjust and modify the designed piece within reason to suit the change in your inquiry.

I cannot accept returns for a refund on orders that exceed 3 items. If you placed a large order, an exchange of equivalent value will be arranged via a store credit. Store credit does not expire.

Shipping charges are not refundable. If you need help determining the best return process, please contact me via email.
