The one with the questions, has all the answers…

Dear one,

What if the one with the questions, has all the answers… whom would the questions be addressed to? You keep asking and I hear much worry in your repeated questions. I understand wanting to know everything, and this desire is so much the stronger the less knowledge you believe is available to you… At the same time, the more answers you get from others, the less you are inclined to believe them..

It is like that door from your childhood that you were warned not to open. What was behind that door? Was there ever something there? You did not know this back then — but are coming to understand now — that as long as that door stayed locked, your imagination was free to conjure up fantastic images and ideas. You were in a blissful loop of your own reasoning, creating stories about that door that you thought were too intimidating. Oblivious to their origin, you unknowingly were testing how much fantasy you could handle.

And so, you wished to know what more was there to it.

Truth is, our insights lie within the boundary of an outstretched arm that knows it is only inches away from “finding out” and — at the same time — the fear of knowing that nothing will be the same after that discovery and that there is no returning to the initial state of wonder. Unless, of course, you find a new fascination, and will want to know everything about it, while at the same time — you’ll know you really don’t what to know. And so that hand retracts from the door knob and leaves the discovery for later.

Yet, nothing behind that door would be as good as your imagination about the unanswered questions. You know that people tend to seek more enigmas than the answers readily available around them. Some will keep asking as a way of preserving the mystery rather than as a means of getting the answers.

And so I wonder — where do your questions come from?

From a place of knowing, not knowing, or not wanting to know? I hope this makes sense to you: as long as you keep asking, you assume there is some hidden truth to be discovered. And there is — if you are asking yourself. And there truly is none — if you are asking another.

Now, back to that door from your childhood… What would happen if you were to push that door open? Would you be disappointed to find out, not only that it was never locked to begin with, but that nothing was hidden away from you? I’ll leave you to ponder over all this.

Everything you need is already in you,

~ Anima
